A small shop, chosen piece by piece.

The shop is a small one. A single room on Hotagi Road, opposite the line of tea stalls near Sawaskar Hospital. There's a glass case full of pieces along the wall, a bench by the window for the better light, and Sheetal there almost every day from late morning until the evening.

It began with beadwork. She made earrings for friends, then for their friends, and by 2015 that had turned into a small business and then into a shop of its own.

Most of her day now goes on choosing. Suppliers send trays of things; she works through them under the window, holds pieces up, turns them over, checks how a clasp sits and whether a plating will last past the first wedding — and sends most of it back. That filter is the whole job, and it is why people who come in say they see designs here they don't see in the big showrooms.

Some of it she still makes herself. The beadwork and the flower jewellery are hers, made at the bench, and so is every custom order. Those we label; we won't tell you a piece is handmade when it isn't.

For weddings, festival days and shoots where you don't want to buy a one-off statement piece, you can rent — bridal sets and statement necklaces, collected in person or shipped, with a refundable deposit.
